Fun, family, photos

Saturday started out cold and wet.  So our morning photo shoot had to wait for the evening.  It was still chilly, but there was no rain, and the sun even peeked out from behind the clouds now and then.

We went to Highbanks Metro Park where falls colors are just starting to emerge.
This little guy liked the camera... and all the attention.


We had to tickle the smiles out of this one...

Falcon Academy of Creative Arts

From the moment I stepped into the building, I was enchanted with Falcon Academy.  The halls are bright and cheery.  There is artwork everywhere.

This school uses the arts to teach the curriculum.
And the teachers here are creative and innovative... downright awesome!






















The school office is decorated like a box office!  How fun is that?!



It is obvious that the teachers and administrators here are passionate about what they do and proud of who they teach.

in the apple orchard

Whenever we go pick apples in the fall, I take the camera.  The orchard is so beautiful, and my kids have so much fun... a great combination for taking pictures!

I had the girls dress up a little.  They picked their outfits, but I helped them stay away from distracting text or images on their clothes.
The sun was still high in the sky, so shooting into the light gave more flattering lighting on their faces.

This orchard has some small apple trees with small "Pixie Crisp" apples, which are perfect for tiny customers.

Yum.

In less than half an hour we had 20 pounds of apples and several great fall pictures.

Two peas in a pod

On Sunday we were having dinner at my sister's house, and my daughter and her cousin were giggling in the hammock... with perfect golden sunset light falling across them and lighting up their faces and the colorful fabric.
Moments like this (perfect light, pure happiness, great colors, non-distracting background) are fleeting, so I grabbed the camera and took a few pictures.  Sure enough, a few seconds later, a boy cousin came and pestered the girls.
Quick as a wink this idyllic scene was gone... and there was chasing and rumpus.

Lessons learned...
Look for beautiful light.
Keep your camera handy!
Shoot fast!

The C Family

Yesterday I got to take pictures of these lovely ladies at Inniswoods Metro Park.

The girls were gorgeous.

And the gardens were breathtaking.

Despite the steamy weather, we had fun exploring the gardens.

This mom does not look old enough to have a teenager!
