Even Photography: Highland Youth Garden

I am lucky to get some great volunteer opportunities.  This fall, I was invited to take pictures at the Healthy Harvest Day for the Highland Youth Garden.
This community garden gives children a chance to get their hands dirty and experience the wonder of growing things.  Many volunteers donate their time and talents to make this happen.

Kids from the elementary school across the street spent the day in the garden harvesting and tasting veggies.

They learned about nutrition and science.

They did activities in the garden.

The colors, the fragrances, , the fresh tastes, the sounds... it was magical.

Chefs from OSU prepared and shared gourmet yogurt parfaits and vegetable stir-fries.

There was dancing and music.

This is my brother Erik.  He volunteers at the garden.  He installed the irrigation system... he is an expert.

Connor: Powell, Ohio senior

The day of Connor's senior pictures, it was so cold!  He really toughed it out and smiled through it.

We took Connor's pictures at Coffman Park in Dublin.  I love the variety at the park: bridges, barn, meadows, woods... it's all there.

Connor makes it look like a summer day... really, it was freezing!

Congrats Connor!  Class of 2014!

Emily: Columbus, Ohio senior

I had so much fun with Emily at the farm!  Emily's grandparents have an orchard/farm (I do a lot of shoots there).  And that is where we went for Emily's senior pictures.

I brought my awesome ruffle blanket.  Yep, I made that.

The apples were at their peek (and after pictures, I picked a couple bags of apples to take home).

All-American gorgeous!

Jen and Derek: Boulder, Colorado wedding story

This summer, my sister-in-law got married.  This was such a fun wedding.  She didn't really have a wedding photographer... because her brother and sister and I are all professional photographers.  So Chris covered the videography.  Betsy shot from one angle, and I took the other.
The ceremony started with Penny leading Derek down the aisle.  Penny looked amazing in her tutu.

Penny stopped to sniff Ruby.

The parents of the bride walked her down the aisle.  The bride's mother broke her ankle hours before the ceremony, and she walked down the aisle in heels anyhow!
Here comes the bride!  Jen looked gorgeous in her green gown.

So beautiful!  Everything was just perfect.  The weather was lovely, a skydiver landed in the park during the wedding... not part of the plans... but so fun and fitting.

A friend of the bride and groom officiated.

The vows were just right.

Hooray for Jen and Derek!

The bride and groom led the way down the aisle...
 across the park...

to the party!

Penny did not get enough attention.  Poor pup.

The details made the evening so much fun!

The kids had a blast!

So did the bride and groom!

Alyssa and Tim: Wedding story

I loved this bride's dress.  And when I arrived at their home, the dress and veil were displayed so perfectly.

Alyssa looked so gorgeous, even while putting makeup on. (I think I make funny faces while applying cosmetics.)

I loved all her accessories.  Perfection.

The groom had a bow tie that had to be tied... and he was watching a tutorial on Youtube.  Love it!

The bride, her mom, and her sisters.

We did the bridal pictures a few days before the actual wedding.  We went to an orchard in Powell, Ohio.  The apple flowers were in full bloom.

And the bride was making wishes...

Alyssa had adorable sequin flats.

The whole family outside the Columbus, Ohio Temple on the wedding day.

Isn't her bouquet stunning?

The groomsmen... they know how to party.

Getting down to the beats of DJ Jared Halley...

And then there was a sparking send-off... Congratulations Alyssa and Tim!

First Communion

This is Liam.  He had his First Communion this spring.

Liam is a snappy dresser.  And he wore the best boy shoes ever.

I love the pin on his suspenders.

The whole family.  So darn cute.

It is good to be the center of attention for a day.

And he lost a tooth just a few hours later.

The Newest Mrs. Mars

My youngest brother Ben married his sweetheart today... and I got to take pictures of the newlyweds!
Hannah was such a fun bride!  She is excited about everything.  I love that about her.
