The S Family

Here are a few of my favorite shots of the S family.
I have known Lynn since high school.  She is one of the funniest people I know.

Lynn has breast cancer.  She writes about it here.
(October is breast cancer awareness month.  So please check yourself.)

There was a lot of silliness going on!

Jen- Powell, Ohio senior photos

Jen is a fireball.  A gorgeous fireball.
And when she asked me to do her senior pictures, I was thrilled!
We started out in my studio...
And then off to Upper Arlington for a few shots by the blue building.

 Work it!
And then a Harley Davidson showed up.  For real.
The biker guy was super nice and he let us use it for a few pics.
Hotness...
And then off to Clintonville.  Yep.  That is an adorable old farm truck.
And just then, the most awesome scooter (with a sidecar and adorable pooch!!!) showed up.  (You can get your very own scooter like this from here.)
It was magic.  Pure magic.
Check out more of Jen's photos here.

Best Dam Bridals

So after getting ready and the big reveal (if you haven't seen those pictures, you really should). I took Alli and Jordan to a park by a dam and bridge.  We did the bridals shots the night before the wedding, so the big day wouldn't be too hectic.

I love the variety of scenery at this park.  I love that it is a little unexpected.  I love that Alli and Jordan are so photogenic!

 This guy has some moves!
The dress had a stunningly beautiful train, and the steps were a perfect place to show it off!
The colors of the peacock feather make Alli's eyes pop.  So gorgeous.
Jordan and Alli were so smitten and cute with each other.
We took lots of pictures.  Hundreds.  And just when Alli had enough... in fact she had taken off the skirt of the dress and was only in the puffy slip thingy getting ready to go home... we plopped the green velvet chair in the middle of a wildflower patch and told her to smile.
And she rocked it!

More wedding day pictures coming soon.

The first peek...

It is a magical moment when a couple about to be married sees each other for the first time dressed up as a bride and groom.  (And it is so fun to catch the magic on camera!)
This couple did the couples photo shoot the evening before the wedding... so I made sure to be there for the big reveal!
Alli's dress was from a beloved aunt, the shoes were her sister's, the veil from her sister-in-law, the necklace from her mom... all the women in the family put this bride together!
There was plenty of laughing and jokes and fun...

But then there were breath-taking moments of love and joy.
When Alli's dad saw his little girl in the wedding dress for the first time, his jaw dropped.  And it stayed dropped for a long moment.
 She was quite stunning.

Meanwhile, Jordan was outside, just around the corner, waiting to see his bride-to-be.
Here she comes!!

Then he saw her for the first time.

"Awww. Come here Baby."

 Well done.

(And there I am in the stripey shirt with the backpack.  Clicking away!)

Then it was off to the park for a whirlwind bridal session!

Check back for the bridal portraits soon!

Adam and Cami... bridals

We just got back from a mega vacation in Utah.  We drove out there to visit family and for a wedding!

Meet my newest sister-in-law...
Cami and Adam met us on Temple Square in Salt Lake City for some pre-wedding photos.

Let me explain something here.  There are two other talented photographers in my husband's family:  Betsy (see her work here) and Chris (his work here).  Betsy and I took pictures of the happy couple on Temple Square.  Betsy is so much fun to shoot with!

The grounds were stunning... a perfect backdrop for Cami and Adam.

I love how this turned out... like a painting...
Cami was so much fun to work with!
When it started getting too dark, we drove up above Memory Grove and got just a few more shots...
So gorgeous!  The bride looked amazing and the views were breathtaking!
Stay tuned for more pictures of Adam and Cami!

Margaret and Tom

I love weddings.  I am a romantic, and love stories are so much fun.

This is Margaret and Tom.  Margaret is my niece.  She is gorgeous and talented and super smart... and she met this great guy who is tall, easy-going, and handsome... and a drummer.
The wedding was in Washington DC at the LDS Temple.

Betsy Bulkley of Lily Lu photography (my sis-in-law) was the main photographer at the wedding.  I was second shooter and assistant.
Margaret and Tom were married on the hottest day in DC... ever.  At 9am we were sizzling in the sun.

What you can't see is that we were shading them with an umbrella and fanning them... trying to keep the sweat from beading up.  Not easy on a day that topped out at 104 degrees!

They were good sports and we worked as quickly as possible to get some great shots.

Beety Eyes

Summer is a funny thing.  I was so looking forward to a leisurely schedule and ample time.  Ha!
Well, we are enjoying summer to the fullest, but the free time thing isn't working out quite like I had hoped.  And so the blog isn't reflecting how busy I have been.
Don't worry, I'm on it. Soon.
In the mean time...  check out the lovely chiogga beets from our garden!  (We love our garden!)

Warrior Run!

This is Wellness Week at school, and the culminating event was yesterday... the Wellness Warrior Run! All of the 4th-6th graders from our district were invited to participate in the adventure race.  Parents and staff were invited to race too.  The racers were split by grade and gender and sent out in waves every ten minutes or so.
The course was about a mile long with barriers, obstacles, tunnels, MUD, and real live warriors!
Good clean, fun... except for the mud part.
Dodging the warriors to get to the finish line...

Some kids got muddier than others.
The Principal Spencer and Coach Armstrong battle it out in the mud...

I did the race too... and I got muddy (My legs are not tan.  That is mud).

This was an outstanding event!  The community was involved.  Everyone had a great time.  The course was fun and challenging.  What a fun way to encourage wellness and get everyone active!
